Empire District – Combined Cycle Conversion

Client: Empire District / Burns & McDonnell

Location: Riverton, Kansas

Project: Installation of HRSG, STG and all associated piping

Scope: AZCO contracted with Burns & McDonnell for the above ground mechanical package for Riverton's Unit 1 combined cycle conversion project.

Scope of work included installation of a Nooter Eriksen heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), a 100MW Siemens steam turbine generator and all associated piping. Work also included the balance of plant piping, structural steel erection of the steam turbine building, assembly of a steam surface condenser, and miscellaneous pumps, skids, transformers, bridge cranes, and chemical injection equipment.

AZCO's Fabrication Division also provided the shop fabricated P91 chrome-moly and heavy-wall carbon steel pipe spools for risers, downcomers, burner and SCR systems including shop installed valves as well as fabricated lube oil, control oil, gland steam, spray water, and drain piping for the turbines.
